Less than 70 years separate us from one of the greatest discoveries of all time: the double helix structure of DNA. We now know that DNA is a sort of a twisted ladder composed of four types of compounds, called bases. These four bases are usually identified by an uppercase letter: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T).
