I have been a fan of space travel and the US space program since I was 4 or 5 years old. I remember reading about the Mercury and Gemini programs, and watched with excitement as Lunar Module Eagle landed on the Moon. Today, with the cost to reach Low Earth Orbit (LEO) seemingly declining with each launch, there are more opportunities than ever before to push the boundaries of what we know, conducting ever-more bold experiments and producing vast amounts of raw data. Making the situation even more interesting, today’s experiments can use more types of sensors, each collecting data with higher resolution and at a greater sampling frequency. Dealing with this vast amount of data is a huge challenge.…
Pre-order your Pixel Buds Pro and Pixel 6a today
At I/O we shared our upcoming hardware including Pixel 6a and Pixel Buds Pro. As of today both devices are available for pre-order on the Google Store. Pixel 6a starts at $449 and Pixel Buds Pro are available for $199. There’s a lot to be excited about with our latest phone and earbuds, so we sat down with two team members who worked on these products to hear about their favorite features, technology and more. Here’s what Soniya Jobanputra and Nidhi Rathi had to say. Pixel 6a has Google Tensor, but what does that mean? Soniya: When we set out to make A-series phones, we envisioned the ability to deliver a premium phone at a more affordable price. By including…
New ways to print your memories with Google Photos in Europe and Canada
We use photos for so many things: to decorate our homes, reminisce with family and friends, and make personalized gifts. But today, most (if not all) of our photos — our memories — are digital. That’s why Google Photos is adding new ways to print your photos, so you can easily celebrate and save life’s meaningful moments. Today we’re starting to roll out the option for Google Photos users in Canada and 28 European countries* and Canada to create photo prints and canvas prints and have them delivered right to their home, in addition to photo books. And because Google Photos helps you keep your photos organized and searchable, it’s easy to find what you want to print even if…
New – Amazon EC2 R6a Instances Powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC Processors for Memory-Intensive Workloads
We launched the general-purpose Amazon EC2 M6a instances at AWS re:Invent 2021 and compute-intensive C6a instances in February of this year. These instances are powered by the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors running at frequencies up to 3.6 GHz to offer up to 35 percent better price performance versus the previous generation instances. Today, we are expanding our portfolio to include memory-optimized Amazon EC2 R6a instances featuring AMD EPYC (Milan) processors 10 percent less expensive than comparable x86 instances. R6a instances, powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors are well suited for memory-intensive applications such as high-performance databases (relational databases, noSQL databases), distributed web scale in-memory caches (such as memcached, Redis), in-memory databases such as real-time big data analytics (such…
